Emma has worked in prison law since 2008 beginning her career with the very well respected Michael Purdon Solicitor in Newcastle Upon Tyne. In 2013 she joined Howards Solicitors and is now our Prison Law Supervisor. Emma has only ever worked in prison law and is therefore very experienced. The main bulk of her work is Parole Board Reviews which involves both written representations and advocacy at oral hearings before the Parole Board in all types of cases.
Having worked in prison law since 2008 Emma has helped clients through the challenges that they face in prison and has supported clients throughout the many changes to prison service and Parole Board review process.
Emma is not afraid to stand up for what is right having recently brought successful Judicial Review proceedings against the Secretary of State following the unlawful recall of her client to custody. R (Wilson) v Secretary of State for Justice [2022] EWHC 1789 (Admin).
